We are pleased to share a successful cold-chain system deployment at a flagship Chinese medicine hospital in Hong Kong.
The hospital has successfully implemented Haier Biomedical pharmacy refrigerators integrated with a LoRa-based temperature monitoring system, strengthening pharmaceutical and laboratory cold chain management across its pharmacy facilities.
As a hospital-scale medical institution commencing services in phases starting December 2025, the facility places strong emphasis on quality assurance, temperature stability, and modernized pharmaceutical management. To meet these requirements, it adopted a comprehensive cold chain solution consisting of Haier pharmacy and laboratory refrigerators, supported by intelligent temperature monitoring technology.
Project Overview
To support daily hospital pharmacy operations, a total of 21 Haier Biomedical pharmacy refrigerators were deployed, including:
- 5 units of HYC 509T pharmacy refrigerators
- 16 units of HYC 639 pharmacy refrigerators
All units are equipped with a LoRa-enabled remote temperature monitoring system, forming an integrated solution that provides centralized, real time monitoring of refrigerator operating conditions within the hospital environment.
Operational Requirements: Temperature Monitoring and Risk Prevention
In hospital pharmacy and laboratory operations, maintaining a stable temperature environment is critical to ensuring the safety and effectiveness of pharmaceuticals, reagents, and temperature-sensitive samples.
Key operational requirements included:
- Continuous temperature monitoring, ensuring pharmaceutical and laboratory samples remain within defined temperature ranges
- Door open and close status monitoring, helping prevent temperature fluctuations caused by improper access
- Power outage monitoring, supporting rapid response to operational risks
To enhance reliability, a remote alarm system was implemented. Monitoring alerts are transmitted via the internet and delivered through email and SMS notifications, ensuring that any abnormalities can be addressed promptly—even outside normal operating hours.
